Perhaps you will see a place where you could become involved in our organisation by giving a few hours a week to help your community to become a more caring place to live.
Our centre at Muirside Lodge (opposite the Fire Station at Pennyburn) is our administrative headquarters. It also contains our therapy rooms, lounge area where our group meetings are held and more it is our drop in centre for people like you to pop in for a chat with some of our volunteers. There is a selection of cancer related, books, magazines etc for you to browse.
Whether you are from Skelmorlie, Kilwinning, Beith or anywhere between we offer our transport services to you from door-
If you are from Arran, Bute or Cumbrae you will be picked up and returned to your appropriate ferry terminal.
Everyone in our catchment area who requires to visit a hospital or clinic for cancer treatment or consultation can call on our assistance for getting there and back in the comfort of a private car. No need for you to worry about the route or, where to park or nay of the other things that might prove difficult.
Our drivers are mature, caring people and have met and overcome most of the difficulties that arise. We aim to offer you a hassle free journey. You will be picked up and returned to your own door. We cover all hospitals and clinics in Central Scotland.
Usually you will be the only passenger in the car so there will be room for a friend or relative to escort you if you need or wish, although we do ask that you check this with us when you book. Occasionally another person from you area with an appointment time close to your will travel with you. Most people find this a bonus as it helps to share you experiences with them and long lasting friendships have been known to form in this way.
We are able to offer our services free to all because our staff is unpaid volunteers and our funds are provided by the community of North Ayrshire through our Charity Shops, donations and other fund raising activities.
